Unicircuit, Inc. has established thru extensive testing viable materials, surface coatings, and board constructions that have been validated by industry specifications to ensure that the final product will meet or exceed the guidelines of RoHS, and the requirements that lead-free assembly process dictates.
Key Lead-Free Assembly Attribute: Elevated Thermal Excursions:
Unicircuit, Inc. has deployed several test vehicles utilizing a myriad of laminate types, surface coatings, soldermask, and silkscreen types and has subjected them to the following criteria:
- Thermal Shock of test vehicles to 6X solder float at 288C and then cross sectioned and inspected per IPC-6012B, Class 3
- 6X pass of I.R. and vapor phase reflow and then inspected for delamination, micro-delamination, and blistering.
- Upon completion of items 1 & 2 the test vehicles were then evaluated for:
- Cu peel strength via Instron testing
- Identification of contaminate i.e. flux residue via FTIR analysis
- Quantitative analysis of trace metals (ppb) via ICP (Inductive Coupled Plasma)
- Epoxy cure study via DSC (Differential Scan Calorimetry)
- Identification of inorganic crystalline materials i.e. lead salts via X-ray diffraction 3f) Reviewed cleanliness of assembly process i.e. Clions via Ion Chromatography,
- Elemental analysis of surfaces via EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray)
- High current interconnect reliability verification via IST testing
***CAF reliability study, SIR, and MIR testing were performed as part of our normal material qualification as well
